| The New York State Organ and Tissue Donor Registry is a confidential database administered by the New York State Department of Health, which was launched in June 2000. By enrolling in the registry, New Yorkers indicate their intent to be organ and tissue donors. More than one million New Yorkers have enrolled in the registry. Once they have enrolled, New Yorkers are urged to discuss their decision with their families, as next of kin are asked to consent to organ and tissue donation should the situation arise. |
